Lazy Susan
An Lazy Susan is a turning plate, used all over China for serving food.
In 2009 Sonia Brandes and I wars asked by the municipality of Odense to work together on making an Lazy Susan.
The product was used as gifts at Odense´s participation at the World Exhibition in Shanghai, EXPO 2010.
Sonia Brandes made the illustration on the plate and I re-designed the Lazy Susan.
The design shows the functionality in its most simple way, by using just tree steel balls as turning mechanism.
Acrylic as material makes the steel balls visible from all angles. Besides the table or cloth vill also be visible through the Lazy Susan. Shadows from objects, standing on the Lazy Susan, vill be thrown back on the table.
And now you might ask, "but will the tree balls stay in position?", by using just tree balls the weight on the balls will be equalized. So the weight will force the balls to stay in position.
